It is our greatest desire that children in Little Rock will be given a first impression of their heavenly Father and the wonder of His love for them.
We want them to know three basic truths:
– God made me
– God loves me
– Jesus wants to be my friend forever
Each time your child attends Little Rock they will have FUN!!! They will learn songs, bible stories and bible verses. They will play games and do a craft. They will know that they are part of a church family who loves them and isn’t complete without them!
We do not set a minimum age requirement, but ask that parents be judicious and consult their pediatrician. Many pediatricians recommend that parents wait until the child has received their first round of immunizations.
Our first priority is your child’s safety. Our volunteers are trained in health and safety procedures and Foundations Church has an excellent security team that monitors our classrooms whenever children are present.
All children should be checked in at the Children’s Table in the main lobby. When you check-in, both you and your child will receive a security sticker with a matching 3-digit code, valid only for that day. We also offer additional stickers to label diaper bags and personal items. When dropping your child off in his/her room, you will have the opportunity to share any information with one of our leaders that will help in caring for your child. Pick-up is a breeze. You will be asked to show your security sticker and a teacher will match the number on your child’s sticker to the number on your sticker, prior to releasing them.
***If you happen to misplace your security sticker during service, proper identification will be required for release in order to match you and your child in our system.
Your security code will be displayed on the large screens during service if we need you to return to your child’s classroom. If you are attending an event other than the regular church service, you must notify the Room Leader so someone can be sent to that area to notify you.
Yes, our program is designed to assist parents by providing a safe and nurturing place for their children while they are participating in church-related activities.
Yes, if you are participating in a church-related activity, your child may attend more than one service time in Little Rock. You must pick your child up between services and notify the Room Leader if you will be in attending an event other than the regular church service.
Our volunteers and staff have considerable experience with crying children. More often than not children with separation issues will cry for a few minutes when dropped off in a new setting. It is best to say a quick “goodbye” and leave promptly. Once children realize that they are safe and feel loved they usually calm down. As a general rule, we will call parents to pick up children that we have not been able to comfort after approximately 15 minutes. If your child experiences continued difficulty, please speak to our Director, Julie Shaffer and we will work on a plan for helping your child feel safe and happy in our program.
There is a combination of Foundations staff members, adult and student volunteers in our Little Rock classrooms. All volunteers screened and asked to work in our rooms a few times before committing to a regular serving schedule to determine if it is a “good fit” for them and for the children. All adult Little Rock team members complete application forms and are cleared by criminal background checks .
Children are assigned to classrooms according to their age. We follow the same date of birth guidelines used by the Thompson School District so that children are grouped with the same children that they will eventually enter kindergarten with. It is our desire that children develop long-term relationships with the children and adults in their classroom. Children will all advance to the next room together on “promotion weekend” that usually occurs the first week in August.
Since younger children typically have a more difficult time with transition, we request that children moving from the Nursery to the Toddler Room consult with our Little Rock Director, Julie Shaffer so that we can put a plan into place that will help make that move a positive one for your child.
We require that children are free of fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea for a minimum of 24 hours before participating in our programs. Adherence to this policy is important to protect the health and well-being of all children.
